Cardwell to Resign as State GOP Head
Cardwell served as state GOP chairman from March 2015 to January 2017.

Subscribe NowIndiana Republican Party Chairman Jeff Cardwell has announced he will resign from his position January 21. Governor-elect Eric Holcomb says he is recommending 5th District Chairman Kyle Hupfer to succeed Cardwell.
Cardwell announced his resignation plans to the state committee Friday. A caucus will convene February 1 to choose the next party chairman for Indiana.
"Under his leadership, Indiana Republicans made historic gains at every level of public service this past November – from local to federal office," said Holcomb. "But those gains are about more than winning elections, those gains are a reflection of Jeff’s commitment to helping improve the lives of Hoosiers, something he has done from his days on the Indianapolis City-County Council through his time as state chairman."
In addition to serving as 5th district chairman for the Indiana GOP, Hupfer is also the chief administrative officer and general counsel of Westfield-based Indiana Mills & Manufacturing Inc. He was also a part of Holcomb’s gubernatorial campaign team.
"As treasurer of my campaign committee, co-chair of my Transition Board and a longtime friend, I know Kyle Hupfer is prepared to manage the robust statewide grassroots, finance and communications organization that is the Indiana Republican Party well into the future and ask that members of the State Committee select him as our next State Chairman," said Holcomb.
Hupfer previously served as director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and chairman of the Indiana State Fair Commission. He is also a trustee at Manchester University.
