(NYSE: ANGI) and Colorado-based HomeAdvisor. The e-commerce giant is expanding Amazon Home Services into Indianapolis and 19 other markets. Amazon says it will help connect consumers with service professionals in areas including home improvement, auto repair and product assembly.
Amazon says the professionals involved in the program are invited and vetted. They offer services for computers and electronics, yards, home interiors, as well as business and commercial.
Amazon Home Services General Manager Nish Lathia says "customers can search over 1,200 unique services from pros in over 60 professions – from house cleaning, to lawn work and beyond. The availability of Home Services in more cities means that more customers can quickly find and schedule the help they need around the house heading into the holiday season."
Customers are offered services such as assembly during the ordering process on Amazon’s website and they can also schedule work from professionals and leave reviews about the job.
The company launched the service last year and it has since gained a presence in 50 U.S. metropolitan areas, with more than 60 professionals offering over 1,200 services.
Last month, Angie’s List made a series of cuts that were primarily "workforce related" and aimed at reducing expenses by $20 million. It’s in the process of reorganizing its business model, including a move earlier this year to dump its paywall.
