Senior Vice President Wendy Stein says the upgrades, which include new and refurbished buildings as well as improved infrastructure, also give employees a "renewed sense of pride" in their work space. The open plan aims to boost collaboration and face-to-face communication company-wide. Roche announced the 10-year investment plan in 2012.
During an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Stein said the upgraded space will serve as a talent acquisition tool as well.
Christopher Franz, chairman of Roche’s Swiss-based parent, Roche Group, is taking part in today’s dedication. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, Indiana Secretary of Commerce Victor Smith and Roche Diagnostics Chief Executive Officer Jack Phillips are also on-hand.
The expansion is one of multiple investments Roche is making in Indianapolis. In February, Inside INdiana Business’ Life Sciences e-newsletter detailed a partnership between Roche Diagnostics and Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY) aiming to revolutionize how Alzheimer’s Disease is diagnosed. The partnership focuses on the difficulty of identifying Alzheimer’s Disease and ruling out other diseases with similar symptoms.
Roche does business in more than 100 countries and employs more than 91,000 throughout the world.
