The Indiana Department of Education says the funding is awarded to schools that show a need and a commitment to use the funds to rise student achievement.
The IDOE says the grants will support the implementation of comprehensive school improvement plans. All but one of the recipients plan to implement a transformational model, while Lena Dunn Elementary in Washington will implement an early learning model.
"As I travel the state, I see school leaders and educators working every day to improve instruction and outcomes for Hoosier students," said Ritz. "I am dedicated to supporting the great work that is happening in our schools and providing additional resources to support our students. That is why I am pleased to support this important effort."
