Three projects, totaling $2.4 million, include new video displays, an enhanced audio system and new high-definition video production capabilities.
The upgrades include a new high-definition outfield video board that roughly triples the size of the current display at Victory Field. The ballpark will also feature two new ribbon boards lining the upper deck down each baseline. The marquee on the outside of the ballpark facing West and Maryland streets will also be replaced by a full-color display.
The team says a state-of-the-art sound system will be installed, creating "cleaner and clearer audio throughout the ballpark." The Indians will also broadcast games in high-definition with Victory Field’s control room being upgraded to house new cameras and equipment.
"The fan experience and creating positive lasting memories has long been a focus for our organization," said Indians General Manager Randy Lewandowski. "As we prepare Victory Field for the future, we will continue to consider our fans first and foremost. These upgrades are just the beginning of how we plan to help the next generation of Indians fans create wonderful memories of their own."
Lewandowski says the upgrades are expected to be "substantially complete" by mid-February 2017. The Indians’ home opener is scheduled for Thursday, April 6.
Victory Field celebrated its 20th season of Indians baseball in 2016. The Indians also recorded the highest attendance in Minor League Baseball this year with more than 630,000 attendees.
