The Ball State Center for Academic and Economic Innovation aims to boost entrepreneurial learning and mentorship in the region.
The partnership between Ball State and Launch Fishers was announced when plans began for the co-working space to move to its current location off of 116th Street and Interstate 69. At the opening celebration for the center, Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness said the city was "fortunate to find a very unique partner in Ball State."
"We at Ball State are very excited for the future of this facility," said Rick Hall, chair of the Ball State Board of Trustees. "When you look at how Fishers has been a model of innovation, they are the standard for all other communities. We have a deep tradition of philanthropy and entrepreneurialism. Just look to our founding by the Ball brothers."
The university says it will partner with Hamilton Southeastern Schools in Fishers next summer to offer a dual-credit class to high school students interested in entrepreneurial education. Classes will be held at Launch Fishers.
