In a notice to the state, the company says the closure is due to "unforeseeable economic circumstances" and 214 employees have been terminated at its North Vernon and Kentland facilities.
CPX says the layoffs have already occurred and the employees will not receive any severance benefits. "CPX is taking steps to pay employees for compensation due for work hours performed. Health insurance is expected to remain in force until September 30," the company said.
The company, which provided custom molding services, says only a few employees have remained to assist in winding down operations at both facilities.
