As part of the move, Max Lax, also based in Westfield, will become the official indoor lacrosse provider for the facility, which will host the league’s fall and winter indoor lacrosse programs.
Sharon Balek, co-owner of Max Lax says the Grand Park Events Center will allow the players to "take their offseason game to the next level." The league includes programs for players in elementary school to adults.
"Grand Park has plenty of field space, parking and food options," said Rick Balek, co-owner of Max Lax. "The field space is twice as big as other facilities we have utilized in the past. Plus it’s safer, with no boards and bright lighting. There are also two viewing concourses which are elevated above the field with plenty of tables and chairs. Our spectators will be able to watch, free of charge, in an outstanding, fan-friendly experience without feeling crowded."
The fall programs will begin in October with the winter session beginning in January. The $20 million Grand Park Event Center opened in July and includes three full-sized indoor soccer fields, office space and a Jonathan Byrd’s restaurant.
