Earlham says this year’s class is made up of 364 first-year students and 11 transfers. The school says the freshman class includes students from 37 states and 33 nations, with more than two-thirds coming from the top quarter of their high school class, nearly half involved in high school varsity athletics and more than 60 percent involved in performance arts.
In May, Earlham College President David Dawson announced plans to retire in June of 2017. At the time, Board of Trustees Chair Deborah Hull said a search committee hoped to identify a successor by the end of the year. Dawson led the school for five years.
