Auto Supplier Continues to Grow in Indiana
The state says it committed funding to 74 high-potential companies in 2016.

Subscribe NowA subsidiary of a Japan-based automotive supplier has announced expansion plans for a Jackson County plant. Aisin USA Manufacturing, which has additional operations in several Hoosier communities, is looking to pump nearly $100 million into growing and upgrading its operations in Seymour. The expansion is expected to create 100 jobs over the next two years.
The company supplies door frame, latching system, seating and molding parts. Its customers include manufacturers of the Honda Odyssey, Chevy Traverse, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Camry, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Rav 4 and Lexus models.
Work is expected to begin later this year and hiring could begin next year. Aisin USA Manufacturing Executive Vice President Jeff Nordman says "Aisin USA is excited to expand and continue its operations in Seymour, Indiana. Aisin USA was the first North American manufacturing facility for our parent company, Aisin Seiki, and we have enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Seymour and Jackson County."
Some 2,900 Hoosiers are employed by the Japanese parent, Aisin Seiki Co., which is part of the Toyota Group and is considered one of the top five global auto suppliers in the world. The U.S. subsidiary has 10 companies in Indiana, including Aisin Drivetrain and Aisin Chemical Indiana in nearby Crothersville, ATTC Mfg. in Tell City, ADVICS in Terre Haute, Aisin Logistics in Franklin and INTAT Precision in Rushville. In 2014, the company broke ground on a $45 million expansion at Aisin Chemical Indiana and announced a $24 million expansion at INTAT Precision.
Aisin USA Manufacturing has been offered up to $500,000 in conditional tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
