A blue Subaru Outback was the vehicle that rolled off the production line. The facility currently produces Subaru Legacy and Outback models and will begin producing the Impreza later this year and add the auto maker’s new crossover vehicle in 2018.
"It is only through the dedication of our Associates and their focus on quality, safety and teamwork that we are able to celebrate our 3 millionth Subaru at SIA," said Tom Easterday, senior executive vice president of SIA. "From the Subaru Legacy that was built here on September 11, 1989 to this beautiful Outback built today, Subarus made at SIA have been enjoyed by customers across America and in over 50 other countries where our Subarus have been exported."
SIA recently completed a $140 million plant expansion that resulted in the addition of 1,200 employees. The facility was credited with contributing to a record month of sales in May. Last month, SIA was one of three Indiana auto facilities recognized by this year’s J.D. Power 2016 Initial Quality Ratings and Awards. The company also previously produced Toyota vehicles at the facility.
