One of the largest employers in Columbus is celebrating its 25th anniversary. NTN Driveshaft has more than 1,500 workers in Bartholomew County and is currently in growth mode, pumping more than $140 million into a new plant in Anderson.

The Columbus operations have grown to become the largest outside of the parent company’s home country of Japan. Since opening in 1991, NTN Driveshaft has produced components including constant velocity joints. The company says the plant is considered a "zero-landfill" operation by the state.

NTN Driveshaft’s growth in the state has outpaced the size of its operations in Columbus. More than 500 jobs are expected to be added at the Madison County operation. During an interview last year, the company says it has maxed-out its footprint in Columbus and chose the site in Anderson over other potential suitors in Georgia.
