Toyota Supplier Adding Indiana Jobs

Subscribe NowA Japanese auto component manufacturer is planning to add up to 160 jobs in Princeton as part of a production expansion. Toyota Boshoku Indiana LLC is looking to invest more than $10.5 million to produce seats and doors for the Toyota Highlander, which is currently assembled at the nearby Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Inc. plant.
The Toyota Boshoku Corp. subsidiary currently employs over 1,000 in Gibson County and most of the workers associated with this round of growth have already been hired and the rest are expected to be hired by year’s end. Open positions include assembly, production control and welding. The plant covers 57 acres and produces interior seats for the Toyota Sienna.
Last year, TMMI rolled out more than 375,000 Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Sienna and Sequoia models and announced three expansions over the last four years.
Plant President Brian Malinao says "Toyota Boshoku Indiana is committed to our community here in southern Indiana, where our strong team is helping build vehicle seats and doors for cars traveling on roads around the world. Indiana’s committed manufacturing workforce, as well as our close proximity to Toyota’s automotive assembly facility here in Princeton, makes this the perfect location for our global company to add these new jobs."
The Indiana operations opened in 2007 and are part of a 90-facility global network. Toyota Boshoku Indiana has been offered more than $1 million combined in conditional tax credits and training grants from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. The Gibson County Council has also agreed to kick-in incentives valued at nearly $2 million for the company, which Council President Jeremy Overton says is "vital for the growth of jobs and additional investment in our community."
