Phoenix Fort Wayne LLC has acquired the 129-acre International Park, though the firm did not disclose financial details of the acquisition.
The park features 24 structures, active rail service, trailer parking and outside storage. Frank Crivello, executive vice president of Phoenix, says they plan to work with the city of Fort Wayne as well as local agencies, including Greater Fort Wayne Inc. as it works to redevelop the area.
"We will respect the historical and economic significance of this property’s past while executing improvements that will make it a competitive industrial and commercial complex into the 21st century," said David Marks, managing director of Phoenix.
International Harvester closed its plant in 1982. At its peak, the plant employed more than 10,000 people.
Phoenix Fort Wayne is a subsidiary of Milwaukee-based Phoenix Investors LLC. The purchase of International Park is the firm’s second acquisition in Indiana and more are expected to close in the second half of 2016.
