Austria-based Emarsys selected Indianapolis as the location of its North American headquarters last year, beating out traditional tech hubs like San Francisco and Austin. Emarsys North America plans to invest $3.2 million and create 170 jobs in Indy by 2020.
Emarsys Americas President Sean Brady says several factors pushed the company to Indianapolis, including the city’s digital marketing prowess, talent pipeline in central Indiana, the state’s business climate and being in the Eastern Time Zone, which is good for clients in global markers like China.
The company says it has met growth targets laid out for the first year in North America and "delivered strong operating results." In a statement, Brady said "we have seen a significant demand for our B2C Marketing Cloud from retailers and ecommerce companies with a desire to better target, engage and retain customers across channels. Our technology, client services model, and people are enabling digital marketers to succeed, and we believe our being cited by Forrester as a Strong Performer in its recent report is a testament to that."
Emarsys says growth has overall been steady, but became "especially fast" in the second quarter of this year. Its portfolio of new clients include Butter London, Cheaper Than Dirt!, High Fashion Home, Rawlings, Scrubs & Beyond and Stance Socks.
Last year, the company received a $33 million investment round shortly after locating to Indianapolis.
