Former IU basketball star and current Indiana Pacers executive Quinn Buckner and Melanie Walker, chief executive officer of Tsuchiya Group North America, will each serve three-year terms.
Buckner is an IU graduate who was a part of the university’s undefeated NCAA championship team and the gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic team in 1976. He currently serves as the analyst for the Indiana Pacers’ television broadcasts.
At Tsuchiya Group North America, Walker also serves as president of the company’s five subsidiaries, including TASUS Corp. in Bloomington. She is the president of the Japan America Society of Indiana and serves on several boards, including the State of Indiana Workforce Innovation Council, Indiana Economic Development Corp. and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
"Quinn Buckner is a business leader, philanthropist, Olympian and Hoosier basketball legend. He epitomizes the Hoosier spirit and tradition that are synonymous with Indiana University and will do a tremendous job for IU," said Pence. "For more than 30 years, Melanie Walker has built a global business headquartered right here in Indiana, attracting top talent and investment. As she has given back to her community and state, she will continue to build a world-class higher education system at one of our state’s finest universities as trustee."
Both will serve as trustees through June 30, 2019.
