In a notice to the state, the company said the layoffs are the result of the "unforeseen" cancellation of a contract with its largest customer.
Diversified Machine said it is downsizing its facility in Bristol because of the contract loss. The layoffs are scheduled to begin next week and continue until October.
The company said the employees were told of the move via a plant announcement and will be notified in writing. Diversified Machine is a division of Michigan-based Chassix and manufactures components for automotive parts.
