Indiana Touts Public Debt Report

The financial analytics company reports Indiana has $463 in tax-supported debt per household, which ranks 11th-lowest in the nation.
Governor Mike Pence says the report "proves we’re managing our state budgets with prudent fiscal management and responsibility. Pence’s office says Indiana is "diversifying its economy in a way that efficiently manages its existing tax base."
The report suggests some of Indiana’s neighbors are struggling with larger amounts of public debt. Moody’s reports Illinois has $2,522 of tax-supported public debt per household, while Kentucky has $1,954. That ranks Illinois 7th-highest, and Kentucky 10th-highest.
