Sun King Brewing Co. says the proposed $1.2 million investment will support new equipment and technology improvements at its downtown Indianapolis flagship location.
The company announced last month it is distributing statewide following an increased production limit approved last year by the General Assembly. Sun King also recently named Bob Whitt, former executive director of White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis, president. Whitt succeeds Omar Robinson, a founding member of the team, who has retired.
Sun King says the expansion will help retain more than 60 workers and add 15 jobs over the next four years. It will install new fermentation tanks, canning and chilling equipment. Munster-based Three Floyds Brewing Co. is the largest brewer in the state and Sun King is number two. Both were instrumental in the state expanding the craft brewing annual production limit from 30,000 barrels a year to 90,000.
Last month, co-founder Clay Robinson told Inside INdiana Business Sun King plans to produce between 35,000 and 40,000 barrels in 2016.
