The city of New Albany has begun work on the final section of its portion of the Ohio River Greenway Project. The effort will include an extended roadway and multi-use path.

Crews have begun preliminary work, and construction is set to begin this summer. The city says the project will take approximately one-and-a-half years. INDOT will cover 80 percent of the cost of the project, with the city responsible for the remainder. Crews are currently clearing trees along the construction path to prevent negative impact on the Indiana Bat. The city says workers will plant replacement trees as part of the project.

The Ohio River Greenway Project aims to link Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany along the banks of the Ohio River. The effort also focuses on creating a recreational environment for river access and allowing each community to develop riverfront amenities.
