Subscribe NowA major renovation and expansion project on the campus of Indiana State University can officially move forward. The Indiana State Budget Committee has approved the $64 million project for the university’s College of Health and Human Services facility.
The project includes upgrades to temperature control and air quality as well as technology improvements at the former Arena Building. Interior space in the building, which was built in the 1960s, will be reconfigured.
The project also includes an 87,000 square-foot expansion to house new academic programs and existing programs currently being housed in other parts of the Terre Haute campus.
"The University is grateful for the support of the local legislative delegation and their legislative colleagues to allow for the expansion and renovation of this important facility to improve learning environments for students in the College," said Diann McKee, senior vice president for finance and administration and university treasurer.
Crews have already begun on preliminary work, including relocating a main sewer line and bike trail. The university says construction will begin once bids are received early this summer.
