The $100 million project will also house the headquarters for Ash Brokerage, retail space and a city-owned parking garage.
Barnes & Thornburg says approximately 30 employees will move to the Plaza. Fort Wayne Office Managing Partner Randy Brown says the firm’s roots in the city "are as strong as ever and we are proud to serve our clients and our community close to home."
The project began as a public-private partnership between Fort Wayne and Ash Brokerage, which will occupy three floors and house about 250 employees at the downtown plaza. City and company leaders joined Weigand Construction, MSKTD and Associates and Hoch Associates in September for a "topping out" ceremony. The project is scheduled to be complete in May. Construction on the neighboring Skyline Tower, which will include 124 apartments, retail and office space, is expected to begin later this year.
Other commercial occupants include Lake City Bank, DeBrand Fine Chocolates, an executive branch of the Fort Wayne YMCA, The Golden restaurant and The Find. Developers expect to announce another occupant soon.
