Big Golf Venue May Tee Up in Fishers

Subscribe NowFishers Mayor Scott Fadness believes an $18 million golf entertainment facility planned in the city could be a regional draw. A proposal from Texas-based Topgolf International Inc. for the 65,000 square-foot venue will go before the Fishers City Council Tuesday. Fadness says the investment for the three-floor attraction could go "north of $20 million." The company also says it could create around 450 full and part-time jobs.
The company says research from a third-party auditor suggests the venue could have a nearly $265 million economic impact on the area over the course of a decade and serve as a magnet for other businesses to the area.
Topgolf Vice President of Real Estate Development Zach Shor estimates 450,000 visitors will come to the center in its first year of operation. He says "as we look to expand in the Midwest, Indianapolis is a key market that has been on Topgolf’s radar for a long time. Fishers offers a centralized location in the state and close proximity to Indianapolis. It’s a vibrant community that is frequently recognized as a top place to live and work, and we hope to provide residents a new destination for entertainment."
It will include space for golf training, events, 230 high-definition screens and more than 100 climate-controlled hitting bays and "an extensive food and beverage menu."
The facility, which is planned for 116th Street near Cumberland Road, is set to open in spring of 2017.
Mayor Scott Fadness says the announcement is another example of how Fishers is a “sleeping giant” has awoken.
