Pence Announces $124M Road Project

Subscribe NowIndiana Governor Mike Pence announced Thursday plans to invest $124 million in improvements to State Road 37 in Hamilton County. The project is a partnership among the state of Indiana, Fishers, Noblesville and Hamilton County.
It will convert SR 37 to a free-flow parkway with roundabout-style interchanges between 126th Street and 146th Street. Hamilton County Economic Development Corp. Chief Executive Officer Tim Monger says it will save commuters in and out of the county time and money.
It will also include removing the traffic signal and converting 135th Street to a right turn only intersection with SR 37.
Construction will be completed in phases to minimize impact on the community. The first phase is expected to begin in 2018. The state has committed to providing $100 million in funding with $12 million coming from the city of Fishers and another $12 million from Hamilton County.
“Modern infrastructure is key to building the types of communities that invite investment and job growth,” said Governor Mike Pence. “As communities like Fishers and Noblesville continue to grow and expand, it is critical that we implement collaborative and innovative solutions like updating State Road 37 to ensure these areas remain desirable places for companies to add jobs and Hoosiers to live and raise a family.”
The city of Fishers will assume control and maintenance responsibilities for SR 37 from INDOT once the project begins and will lead the design and construction process. INDOT will take back back control of SR 37 when the project is completed.
Hamilton County Economic Development Corp. Chief Executive Officer Tim Monger says the project will also boost businesses long-term.
