Hoosiers to Perform ‘Workhorse’ Chopper Work
A global defense company with a strong presence in Indiana has received a more than $11.8 million U.S. Navy contract. The deal with Virginia-based Science Applications International Corp. involves weapon systems support for multipurpose helicopters and the work will be performed in Crane and Indianapolis.
The contract is set to be complete by September 2017 and involves MH-60R (pictured) and the MH-60S helicopters. The Navy is in on the deal, as well as the governments of Denmark, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Brazil. The U.S. Department of Defense calls the chopper the "workhorse" of the Navy.
In addition to Indianapolis and Crane, SAIC has locations in Bedford, Bloomfield, Crown Point, Grissom Air Reserve Base and Odon.
