The St. Vincent Center will provide primary care as well as cardiovascular and sports performance services for athletes and the public. It will include two practice courts and state-of-the-art training space. Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird says the St. Vincent Center will help a "small market team compete for top talent."
The Capital Improvement Board in Indianapolis approved plans for the center earlier this week. Pacers Sports & Entertainment Senior Vice President Bill Benner says the project will be completely privately financed.
In a release, Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Nalli said, "The mission at St. Vincent is focused on serving patients and the community. In 1881, St. Vincent started serving patients in Indianapolis. Today, we are partnering with the Indiana Pacers to expand our high-quality, compassionate care to downtown Indianapolis in order help improve the health of area residents and the community.”
The 130,000 square-foot facility will be built on a pie-shaped site on Delaware Street east of Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The space currently houses an employee parking lot.
