Parkview: Cancer Center Marries Physical, Emotional Care

Subscribe NowThe chief executive officer of Parkview Health in Fort Wayne says its planned $80 million cancer center will allow patients and their families to receive physical, emotional and spiritual care all in one building. Michael Packnett says the system is expecting a 50 percent increase in demand for cancer services over the next six or seven years, making the Parkview Cancer Institute a necessary step in the provider's growth. Crews are expected to break ground on the 125,000 square-foot institute late this year, with plans to wrap up construction in 2017. Parkview says the center's location on the southeastern potion of the campus will improve access and patient flow.
The cancer center is the latest in a string of significant investments announced by Parkview. The system broke ground in November on a $20 million facility in Warsaw. The Parkview Warsaw project is expected to be complete late this year and create more than 100 jobs.
In October, Parkview announced plans to pump $55 million into is Fort Wayne Randallia campus. That project is expected to result in nearly 150 new jobs. Upgrades to the more than 60-year-old building include new surgery suites and structural improvements.
