EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College Southwest will hold a dedication ceremony for the Frank L. Hilton M.D. School of Health Sciences on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 4 p.m.
Made possible through the generosity of Dr. Frank Hilton, the School of Health Sciences serves over 500 students annually in over 15 majors, including Health Care Support, Medical Assisting, Paramedic Science, Phlebotomy, and Surgical Technology. After the dedication, there will be a reception, tours of classroom and lab spaces, and opportunities to meet with current Health Science students.

“We are very grateful for Dr. Hilton's generous contributions to Ivy Tech,” said Chancellor Jonathan Weinzapfel. “We are honored to have our School of Health Sciences bear the name of a man who committed his entire career to our community, and who helped initiate many positive changes in local health care.”
Dr. Hilton, a retired OB/GYN, is one of the founding doctors of the Women's Hospital, which is affiliated with Deaconess Health System. Throughout his medical career, he was impressed with the quality of the nurses, surgical technicians, and other medical and office staff who were graduates of Ivy Tech Community College. This interaction inspired him to make an investment of support to the College.
According to Dr. Hilton, “The cost of education is a challenge for many students. Ivy Tech represents a very affordable option for many students to obtain the credentials they need to begin a successful career in health care, and I am proud to be a part of making that happen. I want to encourage others, from similar humble beginnings, to define their goals in life and then achieve them through perseverance, hard work, dedication, and education.”
