The manufacturer has secured a $373 million military contract involving Humvee sales to multiple foreign governments.
Production of the more than 2,000 vehicles will take place in Mishawaka and is expected to be complete at the end of April 2016.
The vehicles are part of a sales contract with the military of Afghanistan, Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Ukraine and Tunisia. Last month, the company inked a $9.5 million deal for 50 humvees for the U.S. Army and in March, another contract with the Iraqi military valued at $32 million.
These announcements all come on the heels of news in January that AM General and Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc. reached an agreement to produce the luxury car maker's R-Class sport utility vehicle in northern Indiana. Mercedes-Benz's plans involve moving production from an Alabama facility to AM General's Mishawaka Commercial Assembly Plant. The collaboration could create hundreds of jobs in the region.
